How this report is made

We save the official passenger-lane wait for each crossing and direction every five minutes: U.S. Customs and Border Protection for Detroit-bound traffic and the Canada Border Services Agency for Windsor-bound traffic. Stale readings are left out, and averages cover 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern, when nearly all trips happen. “Quickest of the three” is the share of five-minute slots where that crossing had the shortest official wait. CBSA’s Canada-bound figures can lag the real line by 30 to 90 minutes. Driver reports come from people using this site; reports sent from far from the border are not counted, and we publish shares, never totals.
