NEXUS wait times at the Windsor–Detroit border

NEXUS lanes skip most of the line, but only when they are open and everyone in the car is a member. Here is the live NEXUS lane wait to Detroit at each crossing next to the regular lane, from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, as of 9:30 PM ET.

To Windsor, CBSA publishes one figure per crossing with no NEXUS breakdown; see the live page. We started recording NEXUS lane waits on September 30, 2026, so typical NEXUS times by hour will be added once there is enough data.

NEXUS lanes at each crossing

Gordie Howe International Bridge: NEXUS lanes available; NEXUS cards can be linked to a Breakaway account.

Ambassador Bridge: Dedicated NEXUS lanes in both directions when staffed. Ready Lane for RFID-enabled documents U.S.-bound.

Detroit-Windsor Tunnel: NEXUS lanes available in both directions when staffed.

Using a NEXUS lane

Everyone in the vehicle must be a NEXUS member, children included, and each person holds their card up to the reader in the NEXUS lane. NEXUS lanes are only useful when they are staffed, so check the live figure above: if it says the lanes are closed, use a regular lane. The application fee is USD $120 and memberships last five years; see the CBSA NEXUS page for how to apply.

NEXUS FAQ

Does everyone in the car need a NEXUS card?

Yes. The CBSA says everyone travelling with you must also be a NEXUS member, whatever their age. If anyone in the vehicle is not a member, use a regular lane.

Is there a NEXUS lane at the Gordie Howe Bridge?

Yes. The Gordie Howe International Bridge has NEXUS lanes, and NEXUS cards can be linked to a Breakaway toll account.

Why is there no NEXUS wait time to Windsor?

The Canada Border Services Agency publishes one wait time per crossing for cars, with no separate NEXUS figure, so only the U.S.-bound NEXUS wait is shown here.

How much does NEXUS cost?

The CBSA lists a USD $120 non-refundable application fee, and memberships are valid for five years.
