About Windsor–Detroit Border Times

Windsor–Detroit Border Times is a free, independent site that shows live wait times for all three crossings between Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan — the Gordie Howe International Bridge, the Ambassador Bridge and the Detroit–Windsor Tunnel — in both directions, on one page.

It is built and run in Windsor by RPMR Creations, a small local group. We cross the border ourselves and were tired of checking three different government pages before every trip.

Where the numbers come from

U.S.-bound (to Detroit): U.S. Customs and Border Protection's public Border Wait Times feed, which updates every few minutes and includes NEXUS, Ready Lane and commercial FAST lanes.

Canada-bound (to Windsor): the Canada Border Services Agency's Border Wait Times data, published under the Open Government Licence – Canada. CBSA's figures can lag 30–90 minutes; we flag them as delayed when they do.

Driver reports: anyone in line can report the wait they are actually seeing. Reports need no account. Each device gets an anonymous trust score, reports are checked against the official figure, and the blended "Border Times estimate" only moves once several independent devices agree. Repeated or implausible submissions are quietly ignored.

History: we record the official figures every five minutes. After a few weeks this powers the typical-wait-by-hour tables on each crossing page.

What we are not

We are not affiliated with CBP, CBSA, the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority, the Detroit International Bridge Company or the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel. Wait times are estimates. If timing matters, allow extra time and check the official sources linked in the footer.

How the site is funded

The site is free to use and carries a small number of ads to cover hosting. We do not sell data, and we do not accept payment to change how any crossing is presented.
